We are so excited about the upcoming Beyond Brilliant Photography Retreat.

Here are some answers to some questions you may have.

What is included with the purchase of a ticket?

The purchase of your ticket includes:

-educational seminars covering topics of: proven business strategies, lighting & posing, wardrobe styling & planning, post production, and more.

-opportunities to practice your craft and expand your portfolio with professional models in unique photo bays and beachfront styled photo shoots.

-Breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, and refreshments included during the event.

-Swag bag with takeaway gifts and industry discounts.

-This event is sponsored by ProPrints and each attendee will receive a gift certificate for a free canvas. 

What is not included in the ticket price?

Airfare, transportation, & lodging is not included. 

We are expecting attendees from our own backyard and also from far and wide. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation to and from the resort. For those staying at the host hotel, your room key provides access to the Jolly Trolly, a beach bus that travels the beaches and downtown Clearwater should you wish to travel outside of scheduled events. While it is not required to stay at the host hotel, attendees are welcome to book a room at the Sheraton sand key resort at a discounted rate of $249 per night (booking link is provided after ticket purchase on confirmation page). Parking is free at the resort so those lodging elsewhere or attending locally are welcome to park on site during the daily events. 

Who are the hosts, educators, and sponsors?

Jessica McKnight is the main educator who is owner of her photography business JessicaMcKnight.com and her coaching business Brilliancekey.com. Brilliance Key was created by Jessica to educate photographers on the business side of photography with a focus on helping photographers create a sustainable six-figure plus business, many of her tried and true methods used in her own business and what she teaches in her mastermind group course are what you will learn during the retreat. 

Dennis Cruz is an educator who will be teaching lighting and posing techniques. Dennis’ photography business is dstnctartmedia.com and he has been an official photographer for the WBFF for 7 years. Dennis is a master at lighting and it can be seen throughout his work and style in which he is excited to share with you his tips and tricks. 

Tessa Cruz is an educator who will be teaching fashion styling and wardrobe planning along with posing techniques. Tessa is a professional wardrobe stylist and will help you create mood boards to incorporate textures, layers, and colors to elevate the experience for your clients and take your artwork to new levels. Tessa is also a professional posing guide who has studied under Coco Rocha.

ProPrints is one of our sponsors who is generously gifting all attendees a gift certificate for a free canvas. Proprints is a trusted vendor within the industry that produces beautiful and quality prints, canvas, and more. They will have some samples available on site to view during the event. 

What are the niches or styles of photography being covered and what if they don’t align with my current offerings?

This retreat has a focus on fashion, fitness, boudoir, personal branding, and lifestyle. However, the education you will receive on business, lighting, posing, and post production can be applied to almost any niche within the industry from couples to families to seniors and more. 

What should I pack?

Definitely bring your camera, batteries, and extra cards, there will be a lot of opportunities to shoot and capture some amazing images. A laptop is highly encouraged as you will be learning some post production tips and tricks. 

Florida in February usually is amazing but we can get cold fronts, pack comfortable clothes and allow for a light layer if it is cooler. Hopefully it’s warm and amazing so pool attire is also recommended. We will be indoors in the morning and afternoon with outdoor shoots during sunset weather permitting. 

What makes this retreat so unique?

There are only 25 attendees allowed at the event which allows for more one on one time with the educators and more opportunities to capture images during the styled shoots and photo bays without having to compete for space.

Additionally the location is beautiful with warm Florida weather and amazing sunsets. You can have an educational opportunity and a chance to relax and vacation in one go.
